PR students today have many new challenges and experiences that weren’t asked of them 5 years ago. New forms of communication such as blogs, social networking, WiFi, etc, have impacted our learning experiences.
As part of curriculum we need to know how to send a press releases via E-mail and post mail. We also need to know how to podcast, post video, set up a blog and what comes with a blog, such as aggregators, and readers. Not only do we need to understand them, but we need to be able to explain why these forms of media can be useful and exploited. With new technology comes new curriculum for PR students every year.
The public relations field changes everyday. Students not only need to stay on top of their studies but on top of almost every new wave of technology and new forms of communication. As new members of the PR field, it can be difficult to comprehend social media in general, but it is important to understand it for a solid future in public relations.
